OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Under the overall authority of the Head of Office, the overall supervision of the Chief of Education, the day-to-day direct supervision of the National Programme Officer for Education (Health and Wellbeing) and the guidance provided by the Education Sector at the UNESCO Dhaka Office, the individual consultant will be responsible for providing technical, logistical and administrative support for conducting assessment and research, conceptualization, development, and implementation of programme to advance education for health and well-being.  The individual consultant will perform from July to December 2024.

More specifically, the individual consultant will carry out the following tasks and responsibilities:

Long Description

Programme Management:

  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of Health Promoting School (HPS) programme activities planned under the programme.
  • Support the preparation of relevant coordination documentation. 

Research and Knowledge Management:

  • Provide support for specific situation analysis, action research, and assessment to produce well-articulated reports, including publications, a curated resource pack, and a blueprint.
  • Assist in the preparation of knowledge and communication products, materials for advocacy and outreach, related to the area of work.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and workshops, with internal and external stakeholders.

Long Description

Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Support the engagement of stakeholders, including teachers, head teachers, trainers, students, parents, education administrators, and partners, through HPS workplan implementation.
  • Provide assistance, if and as requested, in maintaining regular contacts and cooperation with stakeholders and partners.
  • Assist in the strengthening of cooperation with partners, including the UN, development partners, the private sector, and NGOs, and assist with resource mobilization, including the development of project proposals.

Operations Support:

  • Provide administrative and logistical support in the planning and organization of events, meetings, workshops, orientations, and disseminations in coordination with other implementing partners.
  • Assist in the preparation of specific budgets, financial and accounting documents, and project record management.

Long Description

Communications Support:

  • Assist in the drafting of letters and documents, producing reports and contextualizing program documents in both English and Bangla.
  • Assist with IT support and in preparing speeches/PPTs/briefs/highlights in relation to the HPS programme for the Chief of Education and the Head of Office.

Expected contribution (major expected outcomes)

  • Active participation in all of the above-mentioned tasks and duties, and flexibility in engaging in any new tasks that may arise.
  • Carry out additional programmatic, operational, and administrative responsibilities as delegated by both the Supervisor and the Head of Office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education 

  • An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in the field of public health, education, social sciences, or another related discipline.

Work Experience 

  • Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in technical, logistical and administrative management support for programme implementation with Government entities, preferably in an international environment. 

Skills and competencies 

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including good drafting skills in English and/or Bangla. 
  • Good organizational, facilitation, and coordination skills are needed to contextualize, develop, and deliver face-to-face, online, and/or orientation and trainings on global HPS standards and indicators.

Languages 

  • Excellent knowledge of English and Bangla 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and competencies 

  • Flexibility to adjust work schedules, priorities, and capacity to work effectively under pressure. 
  • Good IT skills
  • Good knowledge of utilizing digital tools and platforms to enhance educational practices.  
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively with people of different cultural backgrounds.

BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS

Monthly Remuneration Range: BDT 30,000–45,000 (Based on the professional experiences)
